WWWinamp Ajax Skin v0.2 by dawolf

18 May 2008

One of our WWWinamp users, dawolf, has created a rad skin for WWWinamp which has a great UI and is Ajax enabled! This is a great skin and everyone who’s looking to give WWWinamp a more modern look should take a look at his efforts! :)

WWWinamp Ajax Skin v0.2

You can simply make this skin your default skin by plating it in your Web Root folder or by placing it in a sub-directory in WWWinamp (such as /askin/) :)

Anyone who has issues with this skin can make bug reports to this post! :)

Just another great example of the flexibility of WWWinamp in letting people remote control their own copy of WinAmp without being stuck to a single interface design like Winamp Remote or AjaxAmp.

Thanks again to dawolf for all this hard work! :)

  1. Rich Says:

I tried it out, didn’t function at all.
When loading, it only says “Loading Library…”, and none of the buttons work.
reverting to either your previous skin or the default works fine.
Is there any more info I could get for you?

  2. dawolf Says:

    Which browser are you using?

I noticed that it doesn’t work with Firefox 3 RC1, but does in FF2. Make sure you have Javascript enabled.

  3. Rich Says:

I’m using firefox 2.0.0.14. I haven’t tried anything else. Javascript is enabled.

  4. dawolf Says:

I used FF 2.0.0.14 in development of the skin. Do you see any Javascript errors in Tools / Error Console related to WWWinamp?
If the library doesn’t load the javascript must have bugged out somewhere.
    Anybody else experiencing similar problems?

  5. Rich Says:

    this occurs once:
    xhr.response has no properties
    http://10.0.0.10/js/wwwinamp.js

    this occurs for every action:
    wwwinamp is not defined
    javascript:wwwinamp.cmd(’stop’);
    wwwinamp is not defined
    javascript:wwwinamp.cmd(’play’);

  6. Ian Says:

    Hey,
I tried to install this skin by placing the extracted folder in C:\WWWinamp\askin, but I didn’t see any change in the interface. Do I need to put all the files in the root WWWinamp directory?

  7. dawolf Says:

    Ian,
You have to unzip it into the WebRoot directory or any directory below it, eg. WebRoot\askin and access it as http://yourhost/askin

I was able to reproduce the xhr.response problem mentioned by Rich on my macbook (FF3 RC2) and will try to come up with a solution soon.

  8. Rich Says:

Sorry I didn’t get back to you for a while… Just moved.

anyway, I couldn’t get it to work in the manner that you last mentioned.

  9. dawolf Says:

I updated ASKIN to 0.25. The problem with Firefox not loading the Library should be solved.
Everything is now based on the recently released Mootools 1.2 / CNET Javascript Framework.

    Tested fine on Firefox 3.

This version currently does not work in Safari 3 and IE7 still has problems fetching Ajax updates to playlist and library. For additional info see README.txt.
