WWWinamp V4.2 Build 3109

6 July 2008

UPDATED: Fixed the download link! Sorry I had the wrong URL in there :)

Well, as promised on this fantastic 4th of July weekend I’m delivering everyone a great new version of WWWinamp :)

Mostly a bug fixer with some improvements to make it easier for people creating their own scripts! There are several users active here on my blog who are creating AJAX enabled skins and it was confusing the rules as to which files were passed to the Scripting Engine and which files were just treated as is.

Well, the rule of thumb in previous versions was that if the file was consided to have a MIME type of “text/html”, it would be sent to the Scripting Engine. This pretty much meant only *.htm and *.html files. At users requests, I’ve added a new configuration key to the WWWinamp.config file (WWWinamp.HTTP.ScriptFiles) which allows users to list which files are actually passed to the Scripting Engine. :)

Also in this version, I fixed an issue in the WWWinamp.config file which would keep the WCF service from starting.

Because of these changes, I suggest everyone use the WWWinamp.config file packaged with this build and just set back up your default configurations. :)

If you don’t feel like updating your configuration file.. well.. your WCF service just won’t work and WWWinamp will default back to using “text/html” MIME typed files as scripts. ;)

Here’s the full changelog:

Cheers! :)

Thanks for this update. I hoped it would help to get my WWWinamp working at all, since I had a problem already with the previous versions:
WWWinamp seems to start ok (”New instance of WinAmp found. Process Handles updated!”), but the browser still shows “No Instance of WinAMP Found”.
There’s no error log and I’m using the original skin (also same reaction with all other skins).
    What coud be the problem?

  2. eric Says:

The ‘modern’ skin engine used in WinAmp isn’t compatible with WWWinamp, which would cause WinAmp to report those errors.

When installing WinAmp, be sure to select the ‘Classic’ skin option which disables the ‘modern’ skin engine.

This should fix your issues :)

  3. reto Says:

Works now, after switching to Winamp classic skin, thanks!

I seem to be unable to download 4.2 build 3109, so I am currently using 4.2 3018. I can play, pause, skip, move songs up or down, jump to songs, but I cannot add files or folders to the playlist. The page refreshes, but nothing is added. I am on Vista, but I have already configured the playlist to C:\Users\Dark Talon\AppData\Roaming\Winamp\

Any ideas why this might be happening?

  6. eric Says:

My bad! The URL must have gone bad while I was updating the blog entry a time back.

    Should work now :)

  7. SirWilliam Says:

Hello. I’m trying WWWinAmp for the first time, using the latest version. The application seems to start the web service just fine, but I’m unable to browse to it - page cannot be displayed. Any ideas? Thanks.

Oh,by the way - I’ve tried running it on several other ports, but I get the same response.

  9. eric Says:

Check your WWWinamp Home Directory set in the configuration file. If this is setup incorrectly then WWWinamp will not respond properly.

Also, your Media Directory is also misconfigured in the configuration file as well. Might wanna double check all those settings ;)

  10. SirWilliam Says:

Okay, I made sure that all of the paths in the config file were valid, and pointing to appropriate directories. Everything appears proper from the console point of view, but I still can’t hit the page.

I’ve had the same issue on 2 computers now, so I’m thinking that I’m doing something wrong. Can I just run the application from any directory, or does it have to be placed somewhere? Any special install instructions? Further thoughts?

Correction. I’m running WinAmp in the background, not under my user ID. could that be why it isn’t being recognized by WWWinAmp? I’m listening to it right now vis Shoutcast, yet there’s no instance found. Have you seen this before?

  13. SirWilliam Says:

Okay, here it is running but still no web interface.

    Send me an email at

    WWWINAMP -AT- ENUSBAUM -DOT- COM

and we can discuss your technical issue there :)
It’ll be easier to track that way.

  15. Eric Says:

I got everything to work correctly however when I access wwwinamp through my webrowser it does not show the playlist. I can add songs to the playlist just fine and it plays them just doesn’t show them in the left window.

  16. punk Says:

    Great Software…
Sorry if this been asked before,
but. Is there a linux version yet ??
    ;)

  17. gabepete Says:

I am having difficulty getting wwwinamp configured. The program creates the database and The server event log gets as far as:
    [main] opening socket
    [main] entering server loop

Directing a browser to the webpage shows a message on the left saying “No Winamp playlist found”. The right side shows a list of music files, but clicking on any of the file names doesnt do anything.

    What can you suggest?
