Welcome to Eric Nusbaum’s Internet Home!

Welcome to my little nerded out corner of the Internet!

Well, here it is! I finally decided to update my old and antiquated home page and redirect to a more modern looking web presence using my blog as a landing page. I still have all the original content that was listed on the home page, but now using my blog I’ll be able to interact with the users better as well as keep the information I post about WWWinamp or other projects of mine more organized.

How about I write a little bit about myself :)

My name is Eric Nusbaum and I’m a computer nerd born and raised. I love anything and everything about technology from tinkering with electronic circuits to software development. Personally, I’ve been a professional software developer for nearly ten years and my area of interest currently is the Microsoft .NET Framework (C#, of course). ;)

On my site you’ll find several projects I’ve been working on over time and hopefully they’ll be of interest to you:

  • WWWinamp — This is a custom written HTTP daemon using C# which allows you to host a web server on any machine running WinAmp to control that copy of WinAmp remotely. This is the perfect solution for someone who uses Shoutcast from home or someone looking to control their Home Theater PC (HTPC) copy of WinAmp from a remote location.
  • Discogs API Assembly — This is a .NET Assembly written in C# which allows you to access and query the Discogs.com CD/Album library for Artist, Label or Album information on over a million different albums. I wrote this assembly so their XML API could be easily used by .NET developers across the globe.

Also on my site you can just read through my blog where I discuss (well, rant) about myriad topics touching on everything IT.

If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to leave them! I love hearing back from readers! :)

    Eric,

your site is great, thank you.

I used to work for Harman International, the parent company of Harman Kardon, and I can not even get the info that you have. pretty lousy huh. anyways I am no means a repair guru, with that said, do you have a manual that will help me trouble shoot avr 635, the sm you have listed gives all the electrical data, but no trouble shooting. the receiver shuts off after 30 seconds.

thanks for all your help and keep up the good work.

    Bryan

    Hey Eric,

‘m here in San Diego as well and I just read your article “Why I love my HD Tivo and why Cox sucks..” from 2007. Reading your words helped take the a bit of the sting out of my recent dealings with Cox. Similar story (I just ordered a HD unit from Tivo) only now they want $75!! Honestly, as you said, what – the – fuck is up with that!?!
I’m desperate to find out if you know of any way around this. Is the only way to get my Tivo to work with Cox to pay their punitive extortion? You mention to simply say your returning the box and want 2 cards. Will they just send them???
    Thanks Eric,
    -Jaco

    @Jaco Chicorel

Yeah, there’s no way around it. Both Time Warner and Cox will charge to send a Tech to your house to install the Cable Card. All they’ll do is install the card, get the ID from the card and call it in to activate it.

SERIOUSLY THOUGH, I have no idea why they’d charge for it. I mean, they mail you a DVR and trust you’ll set that up okay, yet a cable card is just TOOOOOO much.

    It’s total bullcrap. :P

So how do I get to the Harmon/Kardon post? I’m trying to get a copy of the AVR 125 service manual. The Digital outputs seem to have gone out and I think I have blown the resistors to the aux power supply mentioned here http://www.fixya.com/support/t362649-no_output

About your 2004 TSX (which I also own), do you know if there is a way/adapter to use the navigation screen as a DVD function (playing DVD’s to show picture on the screen and sound through the speakers)?
